Buckle up and grab your Mickey ears because I'm about to take you on a whirlwind tour of our week-long Disney World escapade. Picture this: seven days packed with trackless rides, sushi, and enough sweat to make you think you had a condition. We might have survived on coffee and sheer excitement alone. Let's dive in!
Day .5: Road trip. Road trip. Road trip!
With our bags packed, cooler filled, and coffee in hand, we set off for Buccees—I mean, Disney. Nine hours later, we arrived at our Airbnb. Just as quickly as we got to the Air BnB, we were heading out again for an evening in Disney Springs.
After walking around for an hour, popping into shops, and looking in windows, we went to Morimoto for Dinner, an Asian fusion restaurant with a classy atmosphere.
We went to the Boardwalk for Cast Night at Jelly Rolls to complete our evening. As someone who loves music and show tunes, I had an absolute blast!
Day 1: Our First Park Day and the Never-Ending Lines
Waking up at a hot 7AM to get in the virtual queue for Tron, we began prepping for our day. And it was a very special day because we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday! I made breakfast, and we prepared for our first Park day at Magic Kingdom.
The Fit:
This was one of my favorite outfits, thanks to my dear friend Erin. This absolute doll prepped me for this trip. She let me borrow her ears for the week and the absolute cutest Winnie the Pooh button-up.
Tennis Dress: OFFLINE By Aerie Tiebreaker Pleated Dress
Highlights:
Joffreys: for all the hype, it is not great, and I will die on that hill.
Space Mountain: You know that feeling when you have been in a line for so long that you've memorized the design of the queue? Yeah, that was us. It was worth it as we finally stepped on the iconic coaster.
Tron: I screamed so much that the ride's audio system could have been my backup vocalist
Birthday Dinner at The California Grill in the Contemporary Resort:
This dinner gets its own section because it was the most incredible experience. You know, when you meet someone, that is the equivalent of a warm hug? Yeah, that was our waitress. She was sunshine in a bucket and made our evening so magical. During our evening, she provided little fun facts about the restaurant, the lagoon we overlooked at our table, and the history of the resorts around us.
Dinner was filled with fresh sourdough rolls, more sushi, and chef-curated creations.
We were advised to stay for the Magic Kingdom fireworks during our dinner, as our table overlooked the park and lagoon. The restaurant dims the lights, and all is calm as they play the music for the show. I was so touched when our lovely waitress surprised us with champagne to celebrate, and during the finale, she sprinkled ear-shaped confetti on our table. It was such a heartwarming moment; I was almost in tears! She didn't stop there; to help celebrate Drew's special day, she brought him a little birthday brownie with a candle (now I'm crying).
We truly experienced the most magical day, and I will forever be grateful to have experienced it together.
...and that was just day one...
Day 2: Park and Rally
You would think we would take a break after the first day of travel and a full park day. Nope! Day 2 in the parks, we had a bit of a later start to relax, grabbed Starbucks, and headed for Hollywood Studios. We were there long enough to run over to Star Wars: Galaxy Edge to ride Rise of the Resistance and walk back through Toy Story Land before the sky bottomed out, and we were soaked! Florida weather, am I right? We decided to head back to the Air BnB as it was only getting worse. After lunch and a FAT nap, we returned to the park to finish our day of riding rides. After we left the park, it was close to 10:30, and we still hadn't eaten, so where do we go? Sushi.
The Fit:
Jersey: Tampa Bay Rays Jersey
Bike Shorts: OFFLINE By Aerie Real Me Crossover 7" Bike Short
Sneakers: Cloud X 4
Ears: My little brother's girlfriend, Hannah (an absolute icon), allowed me to borrow her ears to complete this fit.
Highlights:
Rise of the Resistance: Beyond Epic—seriously, I’m still trying to figure out how they made us feel like we were in a movie. The fact that you end the ride and have no idea where you are or where you were is a very real feeling.
Sunshine Day Bar: On Sunset Blvd., we popped over to the full-service bar for their Blackberry Moonshine Lemonade, which was delicious.
Day 3: Rest Day—or Not
After three days of Disney, we were still going strong. We decided to visit Disney Springs and managed to get lost in a sea of merchandise before ending up at the bowling alley for lunch and games. Dinner was at Mulligans Pub for drinks and wings; I highly recommend the Honey Garlic wings.
Day 4: Around the world by 5 PM
I'm checking for a pulse at this point because day 4 is a park day. Our final park was Epcot. We grabbed our ponchos and coffee and were ready to taste our way around the world, and boy, did we ever. From French pastries to Japanese sushi (yes, again...), our stomachs were on a non-stop international tour. We even managed to squeeze in a few rides between food stops.
We snagged a spot to watch Luminous The Symphony of Us in the evening. The fireworks were so dazzling that they almost made us forget about the little fact that we were melting in the summer heat.
The Fit:
Tshirt: The coolest Cars shirt ever made
Highlights:
Guardians of the Galaxy: Are. You. Kidding. Me. This was my #1 ride. How does it work? I have no idea, but have you ever tried singing September by Earth, Wind, and Fire and screaming simultaneously? It's hard, but it can be done.
Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya: We went to Shiki-Sai, a sushi restaurant in Japan. We tried the Dragon Roll and the Tokyo Negi Roll, which were both incredible. The eel in the Dragon Roll practically melted in our mouths, and the creamy cilantro-jalapeno aioli in the Tokyo Negi was so delicious!
Day 5: The Finale
Our final day was spent playing golf, doing some last-minute shopping, and having a rot evening with Mexican food.
Final Thoughts
Our Disney World trip was everything we hoped for and more. We laughed, ate way too much, and made memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re planning a trip, remember to pack your Mickey ears, a rain poncho, and, most importantly, comfortable shoes because you’ll be walking more than you think!
See you in a couple weeks for my next big adventure!
